Tonight's the night!! Gettin' back on the horse... my first date in nearly a year.
I'm really looking forward to meeting Tom in person and seeing if there's any sort of spark or chemistry. FINGERS CROSSED!! Or, here's to it at least being a pleasant evening... and if it's miserable or he's terrible (which I can't see happening) at least I'll have a good story to share!
My prediction (based on past experiences of people I've met through the site): I think he'll be nice and we'll have a good time together tonight, but there won't be any chemistry. He'll be the kind of guy I could have a beer with on a Sunday afternoon... not the kind of guy I'd want to wake up next to on a Sunday morning. ;-) Either way, this is a good thing... I'm back OUT THERE. And PS - Debbie Downer has left the building and Suzy is back.
The plan is to meet up with Tom at 6:30 at one of my favorite restaurants - that is also really close to his condo. I'll try to give an update tonight or as soon as I can tomorrow.

Starting Out

I've been thinking of doing this for weeks and the time has come! I'm less than 2 months from my 30th birthday and I'm on board with that whole "why not?" mentality.
After all, I've put myself "out there" with the dating site (I had semi-good luck with a different dating site several years ago), and keeping a record of my adventures seems like a fun idea.
Each morning, when I log on to email, I'm greeted with a batch of new men who have been delivered to my Inbox. It's funny - it's like a parade of suitors shows up at my door each day and I get to say "you can stay, you can go, you can stay, you can go..."
I'm trying to be open minded and keep up the correspondence with those who aren't necessarily "my type."I've already been out on 2 dates through the site. I'll detail those in my first two postings - after all, these guys bought me dinner and/or drinks, so they at least deserve their own post! :)
It's also very important to note that I'm changing names and leaving out identifying details - overall these seem like good guys, and I don't want anyone getting hurt.

Tom - met through dating site; lots of banter and conversation, not so much of a spark; made questionable "ass" comments
Eric* - met when I was 16; ran into him while "out" from time to time in past few years; he asked me out after a chance run-in at a coffee shop
Mark* - dated for approx. 2 mos 3 yrs ago; showed up as a match on the dating site; he initiated communication with me; we dated for a year; thought he was The One, was sadly mistaken
Joe* - goes to my dentist; cute; actual meeting is a long-shot (but I'm game!)
Dave* - coworker of close friend; set-up 2 years in the making
