Starting Out

I've been thinking of doing this for weeks and the time has come! I'm less than 2 months from my 30th birthday and I'm on board with that whole "why not?" mentality.

After all, I've put myself "out there" with the dating site (I had semi-good luck with a different dating site several years ago), and keeping a record of my adventures seems like a fun idea.

Each morning, when I log on to email, I'm greeted with a batch of new men who have been delivered to my Inbox. It's funny - it's like a parade of suitors shows up at my door each day and I get to say "you can stay, you can go, you can stay, you can go..."

I'm trying to be open minded and keep up the correspondence with those who aren't necessarily "my type."I've already been out on 2 dates through the site. I'll detail those in my first two postings - after all, these guys bought me dinner and/or drinks, so they at least deserve their own post! :)

It's also very important to note that I'm changing names and leaving out identifying details - overall these seem like good guys, and I don't want anyone getting hurt.

Tom - met through dating site; lots of banter and conversation, not so much of a spark; made questionable "ass" comments
Eric* - met when I was 16; ran into him while "out" from time to time in past few years; he asked me out after a chance run-in at a coffee shop
Mark* - dated for approx. 2 mos 3 yrs ago; showed up as a match on the dating site; he initiated communication with me; we dated for a year; thought he was The One, was sadly mistaken
Joe* - goes to my dentist; cute; actual meeting is a long-shot (but I'm game!)
Dave* - coworker of close friend; set-up 2 years in the making
Jack* – met through dating site; shy engineer; politely put off his request for a second date (via email); declined second date reqest via email and am hopeful that is the end of it
Brian* – friend of sleazy coworker
Ryan*– met in bar; Text Message King
Casey* – met through dating site; great first date; got creepy with speed of dating progression and icky comments; called it off to his obvious disappointment
Sean* – met through dating site; nice date, but smelled like mildew; never contacted again
Seth* – met through dating site; nice date, no chemistry; never contacted again
Mike* – met through dating site; great first date; vanished from planet

* denotes no longer in contact (and would be floored to hear from him again)
